Time to reevaluate your circle
MRA GRANTS
If you already run an eligible Singapore company, you do not have to gamble 100% of your own money to find out whether a foreign market actually works.
Enterprise Singapore’s Market Readiness Assistance (MRA) Grant is an existing, completely legitimate mechanism that supports up to 70% of qualifying market-entry costs, capped at S$100,000 per company per new target market.
The core insight is not about “getting a grant.”
It is about reducing the cost of being wrong.
If 70% of your qualifying third-party market-entry costs were offset, how would your expansion plan change?
The MRA Grant exists precisely for these decisions.
The MRA Grant covers three core pillars of overseas expansion:
Digital marketing campaigns, social media setup, localized content creation, public relations, and in-market promotional activities.
In-market business matching, finding local distributors or joint-venture partners, and participating in overseas trade fairs.
Overseas company incorporation, entity structuring, local regulatory compliance reviews, licensing guidance, and in-market trademark/IP filing.
To qualify for MRA support, your company must meet standard criteria:
This is where operators make costly mistakes:
Retrospective applications are strictly not allowed.
You must submit your grant application through the Business Grants Portal (BGP) before committing to the project.
Specifically, before receiving your Letter of Offer, you must NOT:
Additionally, third-party vendors cannot submit or manage the application on your behalf. The applicant company must submit directly via Singpass on the Business Grants Portal.
There is a major structural advantage to this rule that many operators overlook:
You never commit a single dollar of capital before knowing whether you are funded.
Because you are strictly forbidden from signing agreements, paying retainers, or starting work before the Letter of Offer is issued, your commercial downside is completely protected:
It turns overseas market testing into a protected calculation: significant supported upside if approved, and zero financial loss if it is not.
